Making it Happen

The Nuts and Bolts

Pick a Place and Time

Schedule when and where it’s convenient for you, with or without a physician’s referral. Let us know your personal goals and how you measure success.

Show up and Get the Lowdown

We’ll meet to complete your personal evaluation. You’ll receive an in-depth assessment of your pain and its triggers, the activity demands you place on your body, and the impairments that need to be addressed to allow you to continue those activities pain free.

Do the Work

With 1-on-1 appointments in the places where you spend your time, it’s easier to find out what is contributing to your pain and ways to address it. Receive treatment and learn to exercise in the place that is best for you: at your gym, on the field or next to your desk, with the equipment you have available.

Return to Living the Life you Want to Live

With improved efficiency you can be sure to get to where you want to be, saving time along the way and emerging stronger with more agility and confidence, and less pain.

I want to share my experience as a client working with Jim and express my wholehearted recommendation to others that may also have the opportunity to work with him. Jim provided an outstanding level of service that exceeded expectations. He is highly skilled and provided expert guidance and hands-on training. I can maybe imagine other competent PTs that are in practice that would be able to perform these duties, but Jim provides great sensitivity and caring that is really remarkable. Jim is very attentive, incredibly patient and a good listener and communicator.

About Us

Jim Cavin

Jim was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. He became interested in fitness while in Junior High for the same reason most people get into exercise: to feel and look better.  In high school he wrestled, played football, volleyball, and tennis and worked as a personal trainer at a commercial gym. He received his first job in Strength and Conditioning under John Murray--later the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Golden State Warriors--at the Reikes Center for Human Enhancement in 1998.  During this time he was a two year starter on the Boston University Wrestling Team, where he met his next boss, influential Strength Coach Mike Boyle.  A year after leaving the Reikes Center he was fortunate to continue his work at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning while obtaining his Bachelors Degree in Health Studies and Masters Degree in Physical Therapy. Both of those positions afforded him the opportunity to work with athletes from a wide group of backgrounds and ages, from middle schoolers to professionals in the NBA, NFL and NHL.  Since graduating from PT school he has focused on Sports Rehabilitation, though he continued to work in performance enhancement at The Healthsouth Center for Sports Science, The Center for Functional Performance and SPORTFIT.   On the other end of the spectrum, he has also worked with patients in their homes since 2010, treating patients following surgery or or neurological injury, or meeting professionals in their offices, homes or gyms through PinnacleCare.

Jim’s specialty is eliminating pain and enhancing movement and athletic performance with a special interest in lower back pain.  He married his travel partner Kaylene in 2008 with whom he has a daughter and twin boys.  He continues to play volleyball and compete in submission wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Muay Thai, and plays piano and guitar.

As a physical therapist I’ve spent a lot of time treating patients in clinics and training clients in strength and conditioning facilities. I’ve also seen many patients in their homes and offices. During that time I’ve found that seeing how people move during their sport or in their own environment illuminates their needs in a way that can be missed in the clinic.

I’m a competitive powerlifter.  In 2015 I set a World Record in the squat, but to get the bar on my shoulders my partner had to physically push me into position because my they were so restricted and painful.  Ultimately, I was referred to Jim. Jim worked aggressively to restore my strength and mobility, allowing me to return to competition.  He had a basic understanding of my sport, but was eager to learn the details that are necessary for world class performance and incorporate those needs into my training.  He not only pushed me as hard as possible, but kept me safe by insuring I didn’t push myself too far at any given time while getting back to the highest performance level. I’ve since broken more world records. 430 Squat, 303 bench, 518 Deadlift, 1251 total. All at 71 years of age. I heartily recommend his services to those athletes looking to improve their performance or returning to play.
